The Doctors

Susan Daniels, MD

Everyone at Hatch Pediatrics is centered on service to patients and families. We are here to provide your child and your family with the tools and information you need to build life-long healthy habits, right from the start.

We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to children, from babies to teens, based on evidence-based medicine. We're always learning the latest, and pairing that with years of experience, and close partnerships with pediatric sub-specialist, to be sure that we can help, no matter what concerns you have about your child.

We also never forget to have fun while we do our work. Even when our patients are sick, we mirror the cheerfulness that is part of childhood. We each try to make every patient feel as comfortable as possible, and kindness and humor are part of our recipe.

I was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. I've always loved being around kids! When I moved to Minnesota to go to college, I volunteered in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a "Mother Goose" holding premature infants, and then as a Child Family Life volunteer in the pediatric cancer unit. I went to medical school at the University of Minnesota and thought I would choose OB/Gyn, but every time a baby was born, that's where I wanted to be. I completed my pediatric residency training at the University of Minnesota in 2002, and moved to Montana in 2007 to live closer to my family.

When I'm not in the office, my favorite thing in the world is to spend time with my family; my husband, our college-age son and teenage daughter, my mom and dad, brothers, nieces and nephews who all live nearby. We spend our time hiking, swimming, biking, playing cards, taking photos, cooking, crafting, and eating. Nothing matters more to me than my family, and I know the same is true for every parent that brings a child to Hatch Pediatrics. I look forward to partnering with each of you to improve the health and wellbeing of your family.

Troy Couture, MD

I'm very excited to be a part of Hatch Pediatrics. For me, this is the perfect atmosphere to care for children of all ages and their families. I believe in a team approach, where the child and family are active participants in their medical care.

I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota and received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Dakota State University. I attended medical school at the University of Minnesota where my love of Pediatrics was fostered. As a young adult, I loved working with children and did a lot of volunteer work at the Children's Hospitals. I completed my Pediatric training at the University of Minnesota as well. I spent the first 13 years of practice in a multi-specialty physician group in Brainerd, Minnesota, a resort community in central Minnesota.

Being a pediatrician is everything I hoped it would be. I truly enjoy watching my patients and their families grow. I'm continuously amazed at the resiliency of young people when faced with challenges. I love feeling like I'm part of the family and contributing to the successes of young people in the community.

I met and married my wife Holly in medical school and we have two children, Dylan and Ava. Ava is a high school student in Bozeman and Dylan is attending college at Colorado State University.

I love spending time with my family, being active and exploring new adventures. We love to hike, bike, fish and camp. We love to travel and experience new places and people. I love sports of all kinds and true to my Minnesota upbringing, hockey is my favorite.

I'm honored and humbled by the trust my patients and their families place in me and I work diligently everyday to maintain and build that trust. I look forward to working with you as one part of the team, striving to raise healthy and successful young men and women.

Margot Gottschalk

Margot Gottschalk, MD

I moved to Bozeman with my husband and our three young children in the summer of 2019, to pursue a dream. We loved Montana since the moment we first stepped foot in the state, and knew this was the perfect environment to raise our family. We love getting out together as a family, on the ski slopes, hiking trails, or even just enjoying a meal in our backyard. But more importantly, we love the people and community here. As a pediatrician, I am so honored to be a part of this community, to get to know the families here on an intimate basis, and to share my knowledge with them. I view my job as a partnership with our families, and love working as a team to make our children the best and healthiest they can be.

While the mountains are now my home, I spent my formative years on the east coast. I grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut and then went onto Dartmouth College before returning to CT for medical school at the University of Connecticut. In my off-time, I was a babysitter and nanny to many families. As I rotated through different medical specialties in my training, I always gravitated back to pediatrics. So it was no surprise to anyone who knows me well that I chose pediatrics. I traveled south to Duke University for residency. Then, before moving to Bozeman, I spent 4 years working at Seattle Children's Hospital at their very busy Urgent Care centers, caring for children of all ages and medical complexities.

While I have moved around quite a bit, I am thrilled to finally call Bozeman and Hatch my home.

Rebecca Ellens

Rebecca Ellens, C-PNP

I was born and raised in Flagstaff, AZ. I spent a few years in Phoenix, where I started my nursing journey at Scottsdale Community College (go Artichokes!!) and met my husband, Scott. We moved to Iowa where I worked as a pediatric nurse while getting my bachelor’s degree through Mercy College of Health Sciences. I attended the University of Iowa for my Doctorate in Nursing Practice to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I’ve always wanted to work with children, their joy is contagious. My background in nursing is with chronically ill children in home healthcare, as well as acute care in hematology and oncology. I also enjoy working with children with asthma and endocrine needs.

I was drawn to Hatch because of the environment and team approach to pediatric healthcare, and am loving meeting new patients and building relationships as they grow. Bozeman reminds me of Flagstaff, and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of seeing mountains every day! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dogs - Lily, Severus, and Albus (yes, my dogs are named after Harry Potter characters!); and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers. I also enjoy golfing, and scrapbooking.

I love being a part of this team and I look forward to meeting the needs of our patients!

Sarah Martens

Sarah Martens, Physician Assistant

I am a PA (Physician Assistant) originally from Eagan, MN and am ecstatic to be a part of the team here at Hatch and make Bozeman my home!

I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Coaching at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. I played Division III volleyball there and still love athletics and sports. SKOL Vikings! I really feel my start in coaching kids pointed me on the path to working in pediatrics now.

For my PA training, I graduated from South College in Knoxville, TN. During our time there, my husband and I cultivated a love for the mountains. We loved the hiking, paddling, and biking the area had to offer but not the heat and humidity! After graduation I moved back and began working in Mankato, MN. I started out as a PA in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and eventually transitioned into a role at a high acuity Urgent Care seeing a wide variety of patients.

We spent lots of time coming out to Montana for camping trips and even spent our Honeymoon in Glacier National Park. Bozeman was our favorite city to visit as a “home base” after a backcountry trip. During our years back in Minnesota I couldn’t shake the feeling we were meant to be here in Bozeman. We finally were brave enough to make the leap and I moved here with my husband and our two dogs. I really feel like Hatch is where I am meant to be.

I enjoy seeing and treating a wide variety of conditions and really have a passion for more acute visits. I like being able to make sick visits or stitches a little brighter and less scary!

brandi-mcwalter

Brandi McWalter, Clinical Nurse Manager

I'm a Licensed Practical Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Manager at Hatch Pediatrics. I have been a pediatric nurse for over 20 years (!!!) and I still love every aspect of it! I like being silly with kids and also being able to quickly draw blood and perform other procedures to make a visit easier for a patient. It takes a village to raise a family and I LOVE being a part of our families' village! I'm originally from South Carolina. I have two kids and they keep me quite busy. When I am not working, I'm spending my time cheering on the Gamecocks, hanging with my kiddos, or snuggling with my two cats!

marc-daniels

Marc Daniels, Business Office Manager

I'm the business office manager for Hatch Pediatrics. My primary role is to oversee daily financial matters and billing for the practice, but you might see me around the clinic answering phones at the front desk, taking care of maintenance tasks or helping out wherever needed.

I'm from Cannon Falls, MN. I'm married to Dr. Daniels and we have two young adult children, Henry and Nora. I graduated from the University of Minnesota (where I met my wife!). For 20 + years I was employed as an Environmental Engineer for the University of Minnesota, Ford Motor Company and my own business.

In my free time I love spending time with my wife hiking, foraging mushrooms, cooking, traveling and anything to do with dirt bikes, UTV’s and snowmobiles!.

Keslee Erickson

Keslee Erickson, Billing Assistant

I grew up in the mountains of Wyoming, and started chasing adventure by moving across the country as soon as I was able. I spent some time raising babies by the ocean, and in the desert- but always knew I needed to be surrounded by mountains to feel at home. I have been a Bozeman resident for the majority of the last 15 years. I am a jack of all trades- I am always looking for something new to learn and to do. When I was invited to help out with the billing department (and whatever else comes up) here at Hatch!, I jumped at the opportunity and now they're stuck with me!

I love sunshine and live music. I am an avid creative and crafter. My heart is happiest when I am surrounded by my people: my 3 girls, my son, my grandson and my boyfriend, and all the extras that I love so much.

Samantha Broscheit

Samantha Broscheit, Registered Medical Assistant/Certified Lactation Consultant

Hi! I’m Samantha, a Registered Medical Assistant and a Certified Lactation Consultant. I was born and raised in a suburb of Denver, Colorado. I am the youngest of 3 girls in my family and loved growing up in a close family. In 2017, when my parents decided they were moving to Bozeman for work, I decided to tag along for a fresh start and it has been the best decision I could have made for myself. I have worked with kids for 9+ years and have loved every minute of it. Before working at Hatch, I worked at an early learning center here in town where I met a ton of amazing families who I now get to take care of on the medical side. Alongside my role as a RMA, I am thrilled to be able to also assist with any lactation needs in the office. When I am not working, I love hanging out with friends and family, paddle boarding in the summer, shopping and most of all hanging out with my new nephew.

Libby O'Donnell

Libby O'Donnell, Medical Assistant

I grew up in Bozeman, MT before heading to the University of Colorado for my undergraduate degree. After graduating, I moved back home and am so happy to be working in a pediatric clinic. Working as a babysitter and camp counselor I have always been drawn to working with kids. The energetic and resilient nature of children is so contagious! I plan to return to graduate school in hopes of becoming a PA and continue to provide care to children. Outside of work at Hatch, you can find me skiing, hiking, cooking or reading.

Lizzi Frothingham

Lizzi Frothingham, Medical Assistant

I fell in love with Montana on a road trip I took as a teen, so in 2016 I left Colorado and moved to Bozeman. In my free time I love to explore with my dog and garden in the sunshine. I graduated MSU in 2020 with a degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. I went on ski patrol at Big Sky where I got to combine my interest in medicine with my love for skiing. I am excited to now be a part of the amazing staff here at Hatch!
